LOS GATOS, CA - July 17, 2006 - ICTV, creator of enhanced VOD solutions that seamlessly blend the choice and control of broadband video with the quality and responsiveness of television, today announced the addition of veteran cable executives Bob Beyer, Todd Hansley and Jody Stark to the company’s Business Development team.
The three vice presidents - who have a combined 52 years with leading network operators, programming networks and technology vendors – will be responsible for developing relationships with cable and IPTV operators and programmers for the deployment of applications based on the ICTV ActiveVideo™ platform. The applications include ActiveVideo Channels, which enable existing broadband networks to be delivered to the TV in real time as high-quality, subscriber-controlled television video, and ActiveVideo Mosaics, the multichannel industry’s first customizable, personalized mosaic for video-rich navigation.
ActiveVideo Channels and ActiveVideo Mosaics are delivered via the ActiveVideo Distribution Network (AVDN™), a usage-based content distribution service that enables operators, programmers and advertisers to bring broadband video programming and advertising models from the Internet to the television, including high-CPM ads that are targeted, auditable and interactive. AVDN delivers Web-driven programming and live and VOD streams – all with superior TV quality – as MPEG video over the existing VOD infrastructure to any digital set-top box. Network operators deploying AVDN can enhance their existing VOD offerings by combining optimum video delivery – television resolution, fast response times, and heightened interactivity -- with the customizability and targetability of Web-based programming and advertising models.
“The ActiveVideo Distribution Network is a truly unique concept that is bringing new business models to the multichannel television industry,” said Michael Taylor, senior vice president of business development at ICTV. “In Bob Beyer, Todd Hansley and Jody Stark we have assembled a team that has the expertise, the vision and the industry credibility necessary to help the operator, programmer and advertiser communities make the most of our ActiveVideo Mosaic and ActiveVideo Channel solutions.”
Beyer, who has spent 22 years in the cable TV industry, joins ICTV after four years with BigBand Networks, where he was vice president of sales. Previously, he had spent a combined 18 years in programming, operations, new business development and marketing with Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Adelphia.
Hansley, a 19-year industry veteran, most recently had been a senior executive with GoldPocket Interactive, where he created effective distribution strategies and spearheaded new interactive digital services and product offerings for broadband video, cable, satellite and IPTV markets. Hansley’s career also includes stints at nCUBE, where he was vice president, sales and marketing, and ESPN, where he was director of affiliate sales and marketing during the network’s expansion in the 1990s.
Stark joined ICTV after having served as senior vice president of strategy and business development for YooMedia, the UK-based interactive digital TV and mobile entertainment company. Previously, Stark had run the Media and Entertainment practice for Blast Radius, a business solutions provider that leverages technology to automate marketing, sales, and customer service for high-profile corporate clients. Stark co-founded Initech Consulting, a developer of strategic media technology plans for major content companies, and founded Viziworx, Inc., a provider of core interactive television authoring services that was acquired by ACTV. He also served as senior vice president, business development for Mixed Signals Technology and has served as a consultant to major technology and entertainment companies. |
